(1) A program (and a protocol) that displays information about a particular user, or all users, logged on a local system or on a remote system. It typically shows fulltime name, last login time, idle time, terminal line, and terminal location (where applicable). It may also display plan and project files left by the user. (2) The traceroute or finger commands to run on the source machine (attacking machine) to gain more information about the attacker.
